Ozman’s International Food Market, Sheffield

Spacestudio Architects designed this 2,450sqm retail scheme to help a local independent food retailer expand their already successful business in Sheffield.

Ozmen's specialises in sourcing food from around the world. Their ambitions for the Freedom Works site was to create a haven for Sheffield's 'foodies' and the local multicultural communities by providing an extensive range of international products.

Spacestudio produced an extensive and detailed feasibility study for the project. Our reviews helped our client evaluate several sites and enter into negotiations for this location.

Part of our clients brief was "this project should set a benchmark for entrepreneurial spirit in the area". This idea drove the process to find a solution that was affordable to them, yet architecturally exciting and brings new life back to this part derelict site.

Spacestudio also prepared and submitted a comprehensive planning application for the architectural scheme. The feedback from the planners was very positive.

Now complete, the supermarket has become a destination for Sheffield's food lovers looking for authentic international produce. The store has a bakery, fresh meat and fish counters, and offers a wide range of exotic fruit and vegetables.
