International Food Market, Sheffield

Spacestudio designed this 2,450sqm retail scheme to help a local independent food retailer expand their already successful business in Sheffield.

Ozmen's specialises in sourcing food from around the world. Their ambitions for the Freedom Works site is to create a haven for Sheffield's 'foodies' and multicultural communities by providing an extensive range of international products. The store will have a bakery, fresh meat and fish counters, and offer a wide range of exotic fruit and vegetables, as well as a global cafe.

Spacestudio produced an extensive and detailed feasibility study for the project. This helped our client evaluate several sites and enter into negotiations for this location.

Part of our clients brief was "this project should set a benchmark for entrepreneurial spirit in the area" and this idea has driven the process to find a solution that is affordable to them, yet architecturally interesting and brings new life back to this part derelict site.

Spacetudio also prepared and submitted a comprehensive planning application for the architectural scheme. The feedback from the planners has been very positive.

The project is currently having some client initiated updates being made.
